Five years have now passed since publication, and I've moved on to other projects, but I'm leaving this up with the thought that those drawn to Glassco's writing will find something of interest.

Edward Rawlings, Montreal, 1863



Glassco's maternal grandfather, Edward Rawlings, photographed shortly after he emigrated from England. As the founder and president of the Guarantee Company of North America, he would become one of Montreal's wealthiest men. Though Glassco inherited only a small fraction of Rawlings' estate, the money enabled him to live a life of relative leisure.
